Summer Internships in Washington DC

The USGBC Summer Internship program is open for application. Positions are posted at:https://new.usgbc.org/jobs

There are paid and unpaid positions based in the DC headquarters. Interested students should follow the instructions for submitting their resume and letter of interest which is outlined in the position description. A few additional positions will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

Fellowship Opportunity - Friends of the Earth

Friends of the Earth is recruiting applicants in 6 states (Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, North Carolina and Florida) for our six month Grassroots Fellowship Program. The Fellowship will begin in January 2019 on a rolling basis and will end on June 30, 2019.

Fellows will learn and utilize core organizing skills to activate people to stand up to Trump and pressure Congress to take action to protect people and the environment.

This fellowship program aims to create a pathway for people in underrepresented communities to gain further opportunities in environmental organizing. We offer a $2,000 monthly stipend, it will require a commitment of 25 hours a week and you will gain experience as a grassroots organizer.

Engaged Learning Opportunities for NIU Students

The Office of Student Engagement & Experiential Learning has a variety of programs that will help undergraduate students gain skills in leadership, academic and creative inquiry, mentoring, collaboration, and more through hands-on-learning experiences. These engaged learning experiences can help give students a competitive edge within their field! Our programs also provide students with financial relief in the forms of scholarships as well as compensation. We are currently accepting applications for the following programs and encourage you to you advise students about them:

Huskie Service Scholars program is available to incoming freshmen or first-year transfer students who enjoy engaging in weekly service activities on-campus and in the community. Students receive a $1,200 tuition waiver for active participation and successful completion of the program.  For early decisions, apply by May 12th.

Research Rookies allows undergraduate first-semester freshman, sophomore and first-year transfer students to learn what research looks like in their field of study by working alongside talented faculty for 5-10 hours per week throughout the fall and spring semesters on a small-scale research project. Students receive a $500 stipend for active participation and successful completion of the program.  No matter what college, department, or major, any student can apply to be a Research Rookie! Apply by July 15th.

Summer Research Opportunities Program gives NIU undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct paid, faculty-mentored, research during the summer months. Students receive a $3500 stipend and optional free on-campus housing throughout the duration of the program (June 16-August 9, 2019). Apply by March 11th.

Summer Opportunity Working with Youth Nonprofit

I’m the Executive Director at Future Leaders in Action, where we place fellows, individuals looking to enter the social sector, with youth nonprofits to develop a program over twelve weeks. The fellows gain substantial leadership and work experience while FLIA pays a living wage stipend. Most FLIA fellows secure a job within a month or less. 

Starting late-May we have one program in Chicago. With eight additional programs in Central Iowa and New York City, NY. More information about the opportunities can be found below. Applications are due on March 24th.
