Science-Based Choices for Climate Action, Insights from the IPCC 6th Assessment Report


On October 24 - 26, 2022, all are invited to attend (either in-person or viewing remotely) the International Climate Symposium: Science-Based Choices for Climate Action, Insights from the IPCC 6th Assessment Report hosted by Dickinson College.  Second Nature is proud to be one of the Supporting Organizations.  

The Symposium will provide attendees with an opportunity to engage with authors of the IPCC 6th Assessment Report to discuss its findings, and ways to mobilize and move climate action forward.  

While the event is free, it is requested that you do register to "hold your seat", regardless of if you are attending in-person or will be viewing remotely.

IAEP Student Scholarship Program 2022

The IAEP

· Is a multi-disciplinary society of professionals whose experience and practice relates directly to enhancing environmental quality.

· Unites practitioners in business, government and education.
· Promotes public and professional informed awareness of issues affecting environmental quality.

· Supports professional development and transfer of knowledge in environmental planning, research, management, and evaluation.

· Encourages incorporation of environmental concerns in planning and decision making.

THE SCHOLARSHIP...

In an effort to increase student interest in the environmental professions and to support them in defining their career goals, IAEP sponsors research grants and scholarship opportunities. This year’s scholarship opportunity consists of a total award of $10,000 – Five $2,000 awards to aid students in their education-related expenses. The winners will receive their awards and recognition at the IAEP Annual Golf Outing on September 21, 2022.

ELIGIBILITY

• Be a United States citizen or legal resident.

• Be a full-time student enrolled at an accredited four-year or two-year undergraduate college located in Illinois.

• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale)

• Have a declared major in a science, engineering or policy related discipline. The following are examples of acceptable majors: civil, chemical or environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, biology, hydrogeology, geology, ecology, industrial hygiene, toxicology, environmental policy. NOTE: this list is not exhaustive.

Employment Experience: Please attach a current resume (optional).
Recommendations: Please include two written recommendations in support of your pursuit of the

environmental profession, at least one being from a university official/professor.

Personal essay: Please write an essay of a minimum of 1,000 words discussing: Why you wish to pursue a career in the environmental profession. Essays must include information regarding your inspiration, mentors that have guided you, steps taken to self learning, your education and ideas about the future. Reference citations must be included in your essay

Official (preferred) or Unofficial transcript: Include a current transcript of your academic record. Application form on the next page.

The IAEP Scholarship Program: Application Form Deadline is August 19, 2022
