EEAI Professional Development Events - March 2019

EEAI (Environmental Education Association of Illinois) hosts an annual professional development conference. This year's event will be on March 21-23rd in Mattoon, IL. It includes keynote speakers, field trips, workshops, concurrent sessions, and entertainment. I have been awarded a grant to offer undergraduate and graduate student scholarships. Students have the opportunity to apply for a full conference scholarship along with a small $50 lodging stipend to help cover the costs of traveling to Mattoon. This conference will include several great sessions for pre-service educators and many opportunities for the students to network and connect with professionals in a wide variety of fields.  More information about the conference can be found on our website - https://www.eeai.net/annual-conference.html

Secondly, there is an amazing opportunity for faculty coming up this spring. Details are below and I have attached a flyer that you can share with other science and education faculty.

Project Learning Tree: University Faculty Training for Teacher Preparation is a specialized professional development opportunity for faculty and instructors who are interested in integrating Project Learning Tree®(PLT) into methods and content classes for pre-service educators or teachers in training.
Project Learning Tree is an environmental education program that was designed by educators to be used by educators. It is interdisciplinary, providing hands-on activities for science, reading, math, language arts, social studies, art and music. PLT is fully aligned with state and national standards and strongly supports STEM learning.
Become a certified Project Learning Tree faculty provider. Participants will experience PLT through hands-on indoor and outdoor activities, receive both the PLT PreK-8 Environmental Education Guide as well at the PLT Early Childhood Guide and Music CD. Training instructors work(ed) in higher education and formal education administration settings. Lunch is provided as well as a $100 stipend. Space is limited—University and college faculty/instructor teams are encouraged to attend and will be given registration preference.
