Join NIU Continuing & Professional Education and an NIU expert to visit the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago to see National Geographic Live: Pink Boots & a Machete! On Thursday, January 24, 2019. We will depart DeKalb at 2:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Prior to the show participants can eat dinner and shop on their own. We also offer an NIU Naperville option for pick-up.
Students are discounted to be only $49 with bus travel, Lifelong Learning Institute members and NIU Alumni are only $75 and the regular registration rate is $99.

This evening features Mireya Mayor, a former NFL cheerleader that became a primatologist that co-discovered the world’s smallest primate in Madagascar and is an Emmy Award-nominated wildlife correspondent for National Geographic. Mayor is going to discuss her challenges growing up as the daughter of Cuban immigrants and yet continued to follow her dreams with a backpack, notebook, and hiking boots.
Laurie Spencer, MA in Physical Anthropology and PhD student in Biological Sciences, is attending the trip as the NIU expert to speak to registrants on the bus ride to the event. She has worked as a primate animal keeper and research intern at Lincoln Park Zoo. She conducted fieldwork in Tsinjoarivo, Madagascar.
Students are $49, NIU Lifelong Learning Institute members and NIU Alumni are $75 and regular registration rate is $99. The fee includes transportation and a ticket to the show. Dinner and shopping is on your own in Chicago.
