Illinois Lakes Management Association 2024 conference Scholarship

 

My name is Quentin Jordan, and I am a member of Illinois Lakes Management Association (ILMA) Board of Directors. I have the honor of being tasked with spreading the word to Universities about of our annual conference to be held at the HOTEL & Illinois Conference Center, 1900 S 1^st St, Champaign Illinois on March 4^th-6^th 2024.

 

The Illinois Lake Management Association is seeking applicants for our scholarship programs and Student Posters/Presenters, as well as speakers for our upcoming conference in Champaign, Illinois.  I have attached a couple of PDFs, the call for presentations, and the scholarship application.

We have three different scholarships available for both undergraduate and graduate students. Values ranging from $500 to $1000, and we have extended the date to February 1^st, 2024.

Course for ENVS Students!!!

 PHIL 360 offers an introductory overview of philosophical issues in science: What is science? In what ways can scientific beliefs be explained by social phenomena? Why do we, or should we, prefer some scientific theories to others? The course does not require any background in science or philosophy.

Internship Program!!

 

Watershed Management Research and Outreach Undergraduate Internship Program

Water resource management is complex and professionals in the field need an understanding of agriculture, natural resources, communication, social sciences and economics, public health, and planning and project management to be successful. That said, currently there is little to no training available at the undergraduate level for individuals interested in watershed outreach and management roles. The Watershed Management Research and Outreach Undergraduate Internship Program helps students from all backgrounds gain valuable experience that will help you pursue future careers in watershed management. Extension faculty at seven different institutions mentor interns over the summer.

Whether you are interested in water resource management, soil health, agriculture, nutrient management, lake and stream monitoring, weather and climate, forestry, or limnology – this internship is for you!

The application deadline for the Summer 2024 Internship Program has been extended through December 8th.

Yale Conservation Scholars

 

The sessions will be:

 

Tuesday, November 28th, from 6:00 pm EST to 7:00 pm EST. Registration is required. Register using this link.

 

Monday, December 11th, from 12:00 pm EST to 1:00 pm EST. Registration is required. Register using this link.

 

We will begin with a short presentation on the program and end with a Q&A session with staff, alums, and second-year scholars.

 

The program application deadline is Monday, January 15^th, at 11:59 pm EST. 

 

Led by Dr. Dorceta Taylor, Program Director and Principal Investigator, the Yale Conservation Scholars – Early Leadership Initiative (YCS- ELI) is a paid summer opportunity for undergraduates interested in conservation. YCS-ELI is dedicated to creating a diverse environment that uplifts and supports students traditionally underrepresented in the conservation field and interested in careers in the sector. Candidates of any identity and background are welcome to apply.
