Although we are sad we won't be doing our typical internship program this summer, we are so excited to announce we are hiring for 3 full time positions
 at the Post-Landfill Action Network!
 

Full Time Position Logistics:

·         Hours Per Week:  Full-Time 40 hours/week (somewhat flexible) with occasional night-time, weekend, and overnight activities
·         Location: Most of the positions are location flexible (except the SZW Coordinator which must be based in Philadelphia, PA). We have hubs of staff working in Dover NH, Columbia SC, Boulder CO and Philadelphia PA.
·         Compensation: Salaried position starting at $30,000/annually. Available benefits include PTO throughout the year,  a designated electronics stipend, a monthly health insurance stipend, and annual cell phone plan. While travelling for PLAN-related events, employees will receive per-diem, and housing accommodation, while PLAN will be responsible for transportation-related expenses. For more information see our hiring policy.

·         Eligibility: Eligible applicants are recent college or university graduates with a passion for the zero waste movement, grassroots environmental issues, social entrepreneurship, and student leadership for positive social change.

IAEP Student Research Grant Program Guidelines

The IAEP
·        Is a multi-disciplinary society of professionals whose experience and practice relates directly to enhancing environmental quality.
·        Unites practitioners in business, government and education.
·        Promotes public and professional informed awareness of issues affecting environmental quality.
·        Supports professional development and transfer of knowledge in environmental planning, research, management, and evaluation.
·        Encourages incorporation of environmental concerns in planning and decision making.

The STUDENT RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM (SRGP)
The SRGP is an effort to increase student interest in the environmental professions and to support them in conducting research and defining their career goals. The student research grant program will review all applications and give one First Place award of $2,000, Second Place award of $1,500 and Third Place of $1,000 and Honorable Mention of $750 to aid students in conducting their research project (limited to supplies and mileage). Winners will also be required to create a poster in HTML or PDF format of their research project to be posted on the IAEP website (both prior to project initiation and updated after the project has been completed). Winners will present their research results at the IAEP Golf Outing on September 5, 2019.

Your ELIGIBILITY
·        Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college/university located in Illinois. Undergraduates must be enrolled in at least his/her sophomore year
·        Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
·        Have a declared major in a science, engineering or policy related discipline. The following are examples of acceptable majors: civil, chemical or environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, biology, hydrogeology, geology, geography, ecology, industrial hygiene, toxicology, environmental policy. NOTE: this list is not exhaustive.
·        Be a student member of IAEP (Applicants may join at the time of packet submission)

  1. RESEARCH GRANT PROPOSAL – REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants will prepare a research grant proposal (3 pages maximum) containing the following headings and associated content:
·                    INTRODUCTION
o       Discuss the significance of the project
o       State a hypothesis(es) or research objectives
·                    RESEARCH PLAN
o       Experimental design
§    Description and map of study area (if you are doing a field project)
§    Methods and procedures
o       Project timeline
·                    BUDGET
o       List of supplies and estimated costs
o       Estimated travel/mileage expenses
·                    REFERENCES CITED
o       APA or MLA format is acceptable

  1. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FROM RESEARCH ADVISOR
·         Your application must include a letter from a research advisor stating how long he/she has known the applicant and testifying to the applicant’s ability and motivation to complete the proposed project.
