This
service learning course explore philosophical, ethical, and environmental
issues surrounding food and food production. It addresses questions such as the
following:
· What should we do to reduce food insecurity and hunger?
· Do our food choices play a role in the oppression of others?
· Are there good foods and bad foods? Or are all foods okay in
moderation?
· How do we know that our food is safe? What can we do to make
it safer?
· How can we lessen the climate impact of current agricultural
practice?
· How can we, as consumers, seek out sustainably produced
food?
The
course has no prerequisites and counts as an elective for the Certificate
of Undergraduate Study in Applied Ethics.
