Virtual STEM Cafe May 13 Eating in 21st Century

This is a reminder to register to attend our virtual STEM Café on May 13, 2020, 6-8:00 PM. As some of our restaurant attendees might remember, this café on May 13, was on our spring line-up.  We will be talking about Eating  in the 21stCentury. We will have three speakers for approximately one hour, followed by discussion from our audience.  Send in questions ahead of time if you would like to my email, but you will be able to write in your questions and comments during the first hour. Please spread the word!

We know that diets rich in plant-based foods, such as the Planetary Health diet and the Plant Forward diet, are good for us and the planet. But how can we make healthy eating choices, especially now that we’re staying home more and shopping less? This presentation will provide you with the latest information about the relationship between the foods we eat, our health and the environment. You’ll get sensible solutions for healthy, nutritious meals that will fit your lifestyle.

At the café, you’ll learn about how to make healthy eating choices from nutrition experts:
·         Julie Ann Patterson, NIU Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics,
·         Nancy Prange, Registered Dietitian and Dietetic Internship Director at NIU, and
·         Lisa Brandt, Registered Dietitian.

To register, go to http://go.niu.edu/HealthyEating. A link to the event will be provided in your confirmation email. Click the link to join the meeting (via Adobe Connect) by 5:50 p.m. on May 13. The online room will open at 5:30 p.m., and the presentation will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will last approximately 2 hours. On a computer, the Chrome browser works best, and you will be asked to download the Adobe Connect app. For tablets and mobile phones, go to your app store and download the Adobe Connect mobile app before attending. You will be able to listen to the speakers and will have a chance to type in your questions.

Since we had questions from previous audiences about how to connect, I am attaching directions for anyone that hasn’t downloaded Adobe Connect in previous weeks. If you have further questions, contact Judith Dymond, Ed.D. atjdymond@niu.edu and I will connect you with someone who can help.
