The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus has an event coming up that is somewhat close to DeKalb, and
would be of interest to ENVS students. They will be creating a
regional climate plan at the below event with the help of input from attendees.
During the interactive portion of the event, attendees will break into groups
to see which Greenest Region Compact sustainability objectives are the easiest
to accomplish, which are the most difficult/how to get past barriers and which
require regional collaboration.
_____
Please join the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Environment Committee
and CMAP for an interactive session from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Jan. 21,
at the Montgomery Village Hall Board Room (200 N. River St., Montgomery) to
develop a regional climate action plan. The plan will connect the Chicago
area’s Greenest Region Compact (GRC) sustainability collaborative to the Global
Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, which encompasses 10,000 cities in
135 countries.
Attendees will provide input on prioritizing sustainability
strategies, including which GRC goals are easiest to accomplish, which are more
difficult and how to overcome barriers, and which goals require regional
collaboration. Participants will be able to bring back ideas to their
municipality on which sustainability actions are the easiest to complete.
