Position Summary

The Sustainability Coordinator helps develop a campus-wide program of energy savings initiatives, especially a solar energy alternative. This position will also coordinate the implementation of energy conservation and alternative energy technologies, recycling, and environmental safety and stewardship. The incumbent will assist academic leadership and faculty on curricular initiatives that prepare students for careers in sustainability-related positions and that integrate green concepts and environmental literacy into the curriculum and promote applied environmental science and policy research. The person will also coordinate community outreach on sustainability issues and activities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental studies, ecology, public policy or related field
  • Strong interest and commitment to advancing sustainability initiative, education and practices
  • Strong human relations skills and demonstrated ability to provide results, and deal effectively with a broad variety of people
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and an ability to balance a number of functions and duties simultaneously
  • Entrepreneurial and motivational style


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in engineering, architecture, natural sciences, environmental studies, ecology, public policy or related field
  • Familiarity with the operations of higher education institutions
  • 3-5 years work experience in environmental or related fields
  • Grant writing experience
