are now available for the NIU Human
Connections
Global Internship and Leadership Development (GILD) Program. GILD provides
up to 12 NIU students an immersive cultural experience in Riviera Nayarit,
Mexico, which includes a four-week interdisciplinary internship in the social
sector and an extensive one-week leadership development experience. In preparation
for the internship, students will also complete a three-week, hybrid
pre-departure course. In total, students will receive six course credits for
the internship, leadership development experience and pre-departure course.
This internship is open to students from all majors as internships are tailored
to meet student’s professional goals. Human Connections is a responsible
tourism agency that brings together international travelers and local
entrepreneurs to share in cultural and personal exchange. Students interested
in global engagement, social entrepreneurship, non-profit or social service
management are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Thursday, Feb. 1,
