As part of my duties as a professor, I lead the "Environment, Energy, and the Economy” course at the Geneva-based Program on Global Policy and Governance, which is offered in the summer through the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. I write to you today to bring your attention to this unique professional and academic opportunity. Through summer internships and an intensive one-week course, program Fellows gain unparalleled access to UN agencies and other leading Geneva-area institutions. There is an option for doing the one-week course only, without the summer internship.
Program participants customize their experiences by choosing one of three policy tracks: Environment, Energy, and the Economy; or Global Health; or Humanitarian Action: Human Rights, Refugees, and Crisis Response. The “Environment, Energy, and the Economy” course I lead provides students with the access to small group discussions with leading practitioners from organizations such as the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICSTD), and the course also includes site visits to a number of Geneva-area institutions such as the United Nations (UN), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
On Tuesday, October 17th from 12pm – 1pm EST, the program will offer a Global Policy and Governance Program Information Session Webinar. The session will provide detailed information about the program, insights from the program faculty and alumni, and opportunities for Q&A. ***Note: This program is focused on masters or early-Ph.D. students in disciplines such as public policy, environmental management, political science, etc. Undergraduate applicants will be considered only if they are rising seniors at the time of participation and have exceptional experience interning and/or living abroad.
