This position is located in Region 5, Air & Radiation Division, Air Programs Branch, Air Permits Section in Chicago, IL.
At the entry level of this position, you will:

- Evaluate the adequacy of State and local regulations, covering a variety of sources of air emissions based on a wide range of information from diverse sources and with varying degrees of quality and reliability, including the use of air quality models and emission factors.

- Evaluate State and local air pollution regulatory development programs and ensure the Clean Air Act requirements are met. Provide technical advice to resolve problems.

- Draft responses to inquiries from State officials, citizens, and industrial representatives concerning the interpretation and application of policy directives and regulations related to air regulation development.

- Research new air pollution control technology and ambient air quality modeling techniques for criteria pollutants and air toxicants for the industries located in the Region.

WHO MAY APPLY:

Recent Graduates who have completed all course requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution or technical education program within the preceding two years. Preference eligible veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree due to military service obligation may apply up to six years after degree or certification
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-5 level defined as assessing the impact of emissions on ambient air quality OR 1 full year of graduate level education; OR superior academic achievement degree in the academic discipline
