Hello fellow females in STEM!

We hope you had an enjoyable summer! As some of you may know, WISTEM is a group of female faculty members in STEM, here at NIU, who meet to network and discuss important issues. We are interested in kick-starting a group for undergraduate students and graduate students in STEM who may meet informally once per month to do the same. We would like to touch base with everyone as we have several potential events planned for this coming school year, such as inviting female scientists to speak at a colloquium.

We were hoping to meet for coffee on Friday, September 11th, at 2 pm in Founder's Cafe in the basement of the library, to discuss these ideas and get to know each other a little better.

The Illinois Groundwater Association (IGA) is seeking presenters for our Fall meeting, October 9th, 2015 at the NIU Naperville Campus.  If you have a groundwater related topic or recent research that you would like to present, please email me, and we will get you on the schedule.

Scholarship Opportunity for NIU Internship or Co-op Students - Summer 2015

Intern of the Month and Intern of the Year Scholarship Awards: Career Services acknowledges outstanding NIU students who have completed a career-related work experience. Seven internship or co-op students are selected throughout the scholarship award year, January to December 2015, as Intern of the Month. At the completion of the scholarship year, three of these seven students will be selected as NIU Intern of the Year scholarship award recipients.

The deadline for the summer 2015 awards is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015. A letter describing the application procedures and the documents required to apply are attached to this e-mail. Please forward this information to students who may qualify for the Intern of the Month awards. Career Services typically notifies students automatically who have reported their internship or co-op work experiences to us. However, we are transitioning to a new reporting system this semester and are not able to notify students directly; therefore, your help is especially needed in spreading the word.
