Chicago Area University Students – Submit your Mobility Student Research / Projects at the upcoming Symposium Present your MOBILITY research / student projects at the Symposium on Energy, Environment and Sustainability (SEES)<https://chicagocause.wordpress.com/> and expand your network at the same time!

Submissions by undergraduate and graduate students are accepted. The symposium is attended by an interdisciplinary academic and professional audience, peers and subject matter experts from public and private sectors.

Rachel Carson Council Fellowship Program and Capitol Hill Days

Rachel Carson Council Fellowship Program: goal is to identify students with a passion for sustainability and environmental justice and help them make change on their campuses.

The program is proposal based, so students send us an idea of a project or a campaign that they want to tackle. The students will receive a 2,000 dollar stipend over the course of the year, in addition to a training trip to Washington DC in the summer and year-round support from RCC staff.  Our current class of fellows are engaged in a number of ambitious different projects such as campaigns for solar energy and divestment on their campuses. Most campuses have one or two rockstar students who work hard to make a difference but may not always get recognized for their efforts; this program is for them!

Furthermore, this spring RCC will be hosting our Capitol Hill Days. The theme of this lobby event is connecting students to legislators to share their stories and concerns about the climate crisis. It will be taking place from March 22 - 24. Funding is available to help bring campus groups to DC.

Summer 2020 Undergrad Research on Chesapeake Bay (REU), Deadline: Feb. 14

Are you looking for a summer research internship studying ocean, coastal or environmental science? I invite you to check out the Maryland Sea Grant Summer REU program. We bring upper-level undergraduate students to the Chesapeake Bay to conduct individual research projects with a scientist-mentor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. We select undergrads in many disciplines, including engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, ecology and marine and environmental science.

Each REU fellow will receive:
$6,000 stipend
Free housing at your research lab
Round-trip travel expenses

In particular, we encourage students from colleges and universities where access to marine science and to research opportunities is limited and who are from groups traditionally underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math. We believe bringing together students from many disciplines, backgrounds and parts of the country makes for a more interesting and educational summer experience.
