student job opportunity - Nachusa Grasslands crew

The Nature Conservancy’s Nachusa Grasslands is hiring for our 2021 seasonal restoration technician crew. These are exceptional entry-level positions for undergraduate students and recent graduates interested in a conservation career! We will be hiring up to 4 technicians and 1 assistant crew leader. Please forward to anyone who may be interested.

Restoration Technicians will help manage and restore tallgrass prairie at Nachusa Grasslands, a 4,000 acre preserve near Dixon, IL. Technicians will work together on a crew to remove invasive weeds and hand-collect native seeds. Seeds are used to restore agricultural lands to high diversity prairie, wetlands, and savanna on site annually. These are great opportunities to learn about plants and animals and natural areas management with an emphasis on ecological restoration. The position affords the opportunity to engage in interesting, educational, and challenging outside work at a dynamic restoration project. This is an excellent entry level position to learn what it really takes to do natural areas management and restoration. Full-time job, short term position. $13.50/hr. Includes nice clean on-site housing (one technician per room), high speed internet available at Headquarters. No pets. We have robust protocols in effect to minimize COVID-19 risk, and these will evolve as necessary to meet changing COVID-19 concerns.
