Environmental/OSHA Consulting

An environmental and safety consulting firm in Rockford needs 10-12 students for part-time summer employment (30 – 35 hours/week) starting in mid-May and ending in early August, 2015.

Some work may be in the Chicago western and southwestern suburbs but the majority of the work will be in the Rockford/DeKalb/Belvidere area. Tasks include driving to active industrial locations in small groups, meeting w/company personnel, performing chemical audits of the facilities, conducting Internet research, and documenting the results.

Work hours would mainly be Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (or thereabouts) and flexibility could be worked out. If needed, weekend and/or evening hours could be arranged. On-the-job training will be provided and potential internships may be available for upperclass students.

Areas of study most benefited by the work would be engineering, biology, geology, chemistry, environmental studies, occupational health, geography, industrial hygiene or management, and public health, although applications from students studying other disciplines will be accepted.
