UNIV 301: Braven Leadership and Career Accelerator
- Networking - Networking is a primary theme of the course. Not only do Braven Fellows (students who take the course) learn all about networking, they also build their networks with other students, career coaches, a Braven partner organization (which has included the Chicago Bulls and United Airlines in past semesters) and a career mentor.
- Job Search Skills – Braven Fellows learn critical job search skills, including resume writing and interviewing, and their team project for the partner organization provides a hands-on experience they can add to their resumes and discuss during job interviews.
- Career Readiness Competencies – Today’s college students need to graduate with not only a solid education, but also with the career readiness competencies that employers seek for a strong start in their post-college positions. Braven Fellows develop several of these competencies, including career and self-development, teamwork, leadership and communication skills, by completing a project with a cohort of 5-6 other students and then presenting the project to the partner organization.
- Post-Course Follow Through – Braven Fellows are invited to partner with a Professional Mentor in their target careers after completing UNIV 301 to follow through with the career development experience. Mentors provide valuable career insights and help Post-Accelerator Fellows (PAFs) connect with networking experiences with the goal of successfully transitioning to their chosen career.
This spring there will be two sections of UNIV 301 (Tuesdays, 5:30pm - 7:30pm OR Wednesday, 5:30pm - 7:30pm). Both sections will take place online, and we hope your students will be part of them!
