IMPORTANT BURSAR INFO: Fall 2020
· Bursar Financial Checklist. (NEW) Helpful guide to help prepare students for the upcoming semester and year. We have listed the most important items at NIU to assist students with understanding their MyNIU finances. https://www.niu.edu/bursar/checklist.shtml
· Students with prior term balance. If a student is having challenges bringing their balance under $500 in order to register, please encourage them to contact our office. One of our Account Counselors will meet with the student over the phone or via TEAMS to determine possible payment options and look at their financial aid status to assist the student with enrollment. All appointments are virtual or via phone.
Students with a balance from Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 will not have a hold preventing registration or add/dropping course. Hold on account will only prevent the release of a transcript or diploma
· Billing and Payments. The first billing statement will be issued September 7th with a payment due date for Fall 2020 is September, 28th. Paperless billing will take effect Spring 2021. · HIP/Payment plan option. The deadline for students to enroll in the 3-month payment plan is September 7, 2020. The 4-month payment plan is closed. For more information, please visit https://www.niu.edu/bursar/payments/HIP.shtml or refer the student to speak with an Account Counselor in the Office of the Bursar.
· Book Charge. The book charge period is August 3rd to September 4th. Students receiving financial aid have the option to charge spring books and school supplies using their OneCard ID at Huskie Books & Gear or Village Commons Bookstore (VCB) during the book charge period each term. Student can charge up to $700in books and school supplies to their student account.
Students have the option when checking out online to have books mailed or picked up.

· Student Refund. Please encourage students to sign up for direct deposit on MyNIU to receive their refund faster. Deadline to sign up for direct deposit or to make changes to their refund selection is Friday, September 7th. · Huskie Bucks. Huskie Bucks is the only form of payment accepted to copy/print and do laundry on campus. · Residential Huskie Bucks. Students planning on living in the residence halls for Fall 2020 have the option to deposit $100 in Huskie Bucks on their OneCard by charging it to their Bursar Student Account. For students receiving financial aid, the Residential Huskie Bucks charge may be covered by some or all of their aid. Deadline to sign up is Friday September 4th by 4:30 pm.
