The Conservation Foundation Naturalist position - Outdoor Education and Recreation Programs

The Conservation Foundation is seeking Naturalists to lead outdoor education and recreation programs for a wide variety of ages and audiences. Programs will take place at schools and natural areas throughout the TCF service area, with a focus on Kane (Elgin) and DuPage Counties. We particularly need someone who can cover programs on Friday afternoons in Elgin. This position is permanent, part-time with highly variable hours, and year-round, and is part of a fun, enthusiastic and passionate team of outdoor education professionals at The Conservation Foundation.

Candidates should demonstrate a genuine passion for outdoor education and enthusiasm for working with people. Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, natural sciences, or related field, with at least 2 years’ experience and skills in interpretation or education preferred. Must have some knowledge or experience pertaining to wildlife, natural history, and local flora and fauna. Must have a valid Illinois Driver's license. Schedule and number of hours will vary depending on the season and programs booked, so must have a flexible schedule and be available to work during the school day. Rarely, programs will occur evenings and weekends. Occasional programs in the summer. Must love working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and be able to tolerate biting and stinging insects. Stewardship activities and hikes require the use of tools, scientific equipment, and hiking through various habitats. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
