Job Title:Physical Scientist (Environmental) (RECENT GRADUATES)

This position is located in Region 5, Great Lakes National Program Office, Policy, Coordination & Communciations Branch in Chicago, IL.
At the entry level of this position, you will:

- Utilize scientific and technical knowledge to provide analytical, technical, budget, and planning support and advice to GLNPO’s management team and other staff.

- Conduct analytical, technical, and financial planning by reviewing background information, agency reports on similar situations, and pertinent guidelines. The incumbent then determines appropriate methods and procedures to be used and provides input and advice to the management team or colleagues, as directed.

- Perform research and analysis which may include a variety of calculations.

- Write reports identifying procedures, results, validity, and conclusions.

WHO MAY APPLY:

Recent Graduates who have completed all course requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution or technical education program within the preceding two years. Preference eligible veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree due to military service obligation may apply up to six years after degree or certification

To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-7 level defined as performing duties related to providing technical and policy support and guidance in environmental protection of a watershed and analyzing data and preparing reports regarding environmental protection programs OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline
