On
behalf of the Knox College community, interested NIU students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the 2nd Annual
Prairie Fire Bioneers Conference, which will be held this month at
Knox. The weekend (Oct. 26-28th) will be filled with many excellent and educational activities. Perhaps most exciting is our keynote speaker this year: the acclaimed activist Julia Butterfly Hill. In addition, there will be
plenary talks by the likes of Bill McKibben, Sandra Steingraber, Paul
Hawken and others (which were delivered at the National Bioneers
Conference) and more than ten interactive break-out sessions focusing
on a wide range of environmental topics. For those who wish to camp, there will be the opportunity to do so at one of the nicest prairie restoration sites in the country, tents provided.
Intrigued? All you need to do is sign up, show up, and pay a reasonable
registration fee (which covers the cost of the four meals and snacks
that will be served throughout the conference, all prepared fresh by
our favorite local vendors.)
