INTERNSHIPS
 
NC State University Summer Sustainable Agriculture Internship Program, Deadline: March 1, 2018 for an internship from June 18 – July 27, 2018. Summer Interns with the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) come from all over the country and world to work with faculty members, researchers and field technicians on weekly classroom learning activities, hands-on farming experience, local food endeavors, field trips to local farms and markets and focused research projects conducted at CEFS’ 2,000-acre Field Research and Outreach Facility at Cherry Farm in Goldsboro, NC.
 
 
NC State University Sustainable Agriculture Internship Program Assistant, Deadline: ASAP
This position of Sustainable Agriculture Internship Program Assistant (PA) is to assist in carrying out activities associated with the Center of Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) Sustainable Agriculture Internship Program from approximately June 11, 2018 – August 3, 2018. The PA will provide an important point of contact for the 12-14 course participants that will live in the dormitories at the University of Mount Olive. 
 
FELLOWSHIPS
 
California Certified Organic Farmers Research Fellow, Deadline: Feb 23, or until position fills.
The Research Fellow will work with CCOF for approximately 18 months to assist in the development of a new project titled “Roadmap to an Organic California.” The Roadmap is a project of the CCOF Foundation, which is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of CCOF. The final project will be a report that outlines the benefits of a world where all agricultural land in California is farmed organically and sets forth state policies to achieve at least 10% certified organic farmland in California by 2030.
 
 
Postdoctoral Fellowship, Human Adaptation to Change, focus on environment, Deadline: ASAP. Postdoctoral fellow sought for study of human adaptation to climate change at the level of individuals and households. The goal of the study is to improve understanding of human adaptation behavior and methods for eliciting and analyzing data about behavioral adjustments that individuals and households make in response to cross-scale interacting environmental changes. The specific focus is on forest management activities of individuals who own land in temperate forest areas and how these activities may interact with changes in wildfire risk, insect and diseases, and vegetation over time with outcomes for human welfare. The study, which will be geographically focused in the Northwestern United States, is a companion to a similar study in the Upper Midwest. The postdoctoral researcher will help design, administer, and quantitatively analyze data from social surveys; help conduct focus groups that include scenario-planning exercises; and write grant proposals and articles for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
 
FIELD SCHOOL
Georgia State University's 
Ethnographic Field School in Sustainable Food Systems, Albany GA, Deadline: ASAP
Launched in summer 2015, this field school is part of a 3-year, multi-disciplinary project to investigate different food hubs as they are beginning to emerge in Georgia, understand their effects on farmers, their communities, and the food system at large, identify common problems, solutions and best practices for developing these businesses, and share this information with the public.
