Job Description
Whetstone Associates is seeking a scientist or mathematician with experience and/or
aptitude in environmental database management. The position requires relocation to
Gunnison, Colorado. Job duties will include data compilation, database development
& querying, statistical analysis, 2D mapping in GIS and/or AutoCAD, 3D visualization
of geologic and geochemical data, data contouring, preparing and plotting graphics,
and more. If you have the aptitude and attention-to-detail, this is an opportunity to

Desired Skills & Experience
Our ideal database/GIS guru is detail-oriented and ambitious, with the following
experience and attributes:
- A.S., B.S. or M.S. in earth sciences and/or mathematics
- Working knowledge of relational environmental databases
- Expertise in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Experience in simple programming and querying
- Ability to perform statistical analysis of water quality data
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Ability to learn EnviroData(r) and EnviroSpase(r) software packages
- Environmental chemistry knowledge is helpful, but not required
- ArcGIS and AutoMAP3D experience is helpful, but not required
- Modflow and Modflow-Surfact experience is a plus, but not required
- ProUCL, Rockworks, LogPlot, Surfer, AQQA experience helpful, but not required

The
Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking a full-time (35-hour
week) Environmental Health Specialist I
or Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training. The selected candidate will
perform duties including environmental health evaluations and environmental
health inspections of food services, on-site waste water systems and private
water supplies.
An Environmental
Health Specialist I must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental
health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45
quarter hours in a physical or biological science and licensed as an Environmental
Health Practitioner in Illinois .
An
Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training
must have a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health or a closely related
field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a physical or
biological science and must acquire an Illinois Environmental Health Practitioner’s
license within three (3) years of employment.
