Paid Internship Opportunity Announcement
with The Conservation Foundation
for 2018
POSITION TITLE: Undergraduate/Graduate student intern
DUTIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: Our undergraduate/graduate intern will serve as a
part-time member of The Conservation Foundation staff. Work will be focused around the key mission
areas of the foundation: land preservation, river and stream protection,
environmental education, restoration and promoting environmental
stewardship.
We will match the skills and
interest of the candidate with the needs of The Conservation Foundation. Past examples of internship projects have
included, but not been limited to:

Setting up community rain barrel
programs and working on education and outreach through our Conservation@Home
program
·
Conducting site reviews at
properties with conservation easements and providing baseline documentation
reports of their natural areas and conditions
·
Performing water quality assessments
by working with staff on sediment and aquatic life sampling in our local rivers
and streams
·
Being a youth educator through our
Mighty Acorns and other nature education programs
·
Help plan and implement ecological
restoration activities and volunteer work days
·
Help organize DuPage River Sweep and
other river cleanup activities
·
Database management for various
programs
·
Help plan and conduct professional
and public educational seminars
HOURS: Flexible, with an average of 16-18 hours per week.
REQUIREMENTS: Excellent writing and communication skills and knowledge
of computer applications such as Microsoft Office are essential. Candidates
should have an undergraduate degree in an environment-related field
(environmental science, environmental studies, ecology, biology, etc.) or be
pursuing a Master’s Degree in a related field.
COMPENSATION: Compensation for this internship will be at a rate
of $15 per hour, with the expectation that the intern will work on average
16-18 hours per week for up to 48 weeks.
